What is your 30-second “elevator speech” about what Engel & Völkers does?

Engel & Völkers is one of the world’s leading service companies specialized in the brokerage of premium residential property, commercial real estate, yachts and aircraft. Engel & Völkers offers both private and institutional clients a professionally tailored range of services. Consultancy, sales and leasing form the core competences of the staff of more than 11,000 people. The Company is currently operating in over 30 countries on four continents. Intensive training schemes in its in-house real estate Academy and the high level of quality assurance governing its systematically structured service provision are key factors that account for the Company’s success.

You are an expert in the Houston Real Estate market. What led you to focus on real estate as a career?

What led me to focus on real estate as a career is how much I’m able to interact with clients. I am able to communicate, listen, provide suggestions and decipher the information people provide. How can you not love knowing you have found someone their dream home? It also gives me the ability to work hard but in a rewarding way.

What do you think sets Engel & Völkers apart from the competition?

Every brand has marketing and technology, and while I believe ours are better, it’s the people and the experiences we deliver to our clients and communities that set us apart. This is what makes us unmistakable.

When did you first realize you were destined to be your own boss?

I learned this at an early age that I would never be able to work a typical 9 to 5 job. Or for that matter call my job and job. I needed to do something that I was passionate about and I knew that was people, property and being able to control my schedule. Real Estate was the perfect match for me, and I have not looked back since!

What has been key to your success with Engel & Völkers Houston?

Providing our customers worldwide with first class service. This means providing competent advice as well as an exclusive portfolio of properties. My passion for my work has always spurred me on to take on new challenges and expand my areas of expertise.

We are proud to call Engel & Völkers Houston one of our Chamber members. Why is it important that your company is part of the Greater Houston LGBT Chamber?

The networking among the LGBT Chamber of Commerce is very impressive and great for helping develop business.

Why do you think it’s important for LGBTQ businesses to have a concentrated voice?

I think the LGBTQ Business Community should have a concentrated voice because it is a common issue of equal rights. By joining voices together, you increase the effectiveness of the message you want to portray. A united front is always stronger together.

What’s ahead in the next couple of years for Engel & Völkers Houston?

To acquire more land and develop more business here in the city of Houston. We as well have proprietary technology and client services being launched during the 1st quarter of 2020 which will anchor us as Houston ends the worlds premium boutique real estate firm. Updates to come!

What’s the best advice you ever received as an entrepreneur?

Be larger than life by following your own dream, own goals and own instinct

What’s advice do you typically share with other entrepreneurs in terms of how to run a successful business?

When you hire the right staff, and invest in your employees, you’re also investing in your business-and in its success.

You’ve generously given back through philanthropic efforts to the LGBTQ community and larger community over the years with your time, talent and treasure. What motivates you to give back?

To ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity.

What's your favorite thing to do in HTX when you're not working?

My favorite thing to do in Houston when I’m not working is playing Polo.

Barbeque or Mexican, and where do you go for it?

I would have to say Mexican. In all seriousness, I enjoy diversity in my meals. But the one Tex-Mex place that has stolen my heart and is a consistent favorite in my rotation of Houston eateries has been El Tiempo. The food has been delicious, and service has blown me away.
