Join the Chamber and our corporate partner and sponsor, Comcast, for a special onsite book reading and meet & greet with retired U.S. Air Force Captain Mark David Gibson, Author of Served in Silence. Participating in this free event will be Comcast’s OUT and VetNet employee resource groups as well as Chamber members and guests.
Mark will read from his memoir Served in Silence. Mark released his memoir Serving in Silence and crossed the country speaking to groups about how to move from a life of shame and secrecy to living an authentic and fulfilling life.
Captain Mark David Gibson joined the U.S. Air Force as a “ticket out” to find himself and see the world. Gibson is a 20-year, highly decorated, retired, war veteran having deployed multiple times to Southwest Asia in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Noble Eagle. Mark earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree simultaneously while earning a commission in the U.S. Air Force as an Officer. Outside of the military, Mark has worked for major corporations and currently works for the U.S. Small Business Administration. It was here that Mark was able to bring his authentic self and professional expertise that garnered success.
Mark co-authored and led the SBA's National LGBT Outreach initiative for which was awarded the ‘Bright Idea – Innovation in American Government Award’ from Harvard University. In addition to having lived in Costa Rica, Mark is a world traveler and a gourmet cook. One of Mark's highest achievements is successfully completing a triathlon. He has a spirit of volunteerism and is passionate about living an authentic life to its fullest. He and his partner Aaron (aka "Mr. Wonderful") live in Georgia and split their time between Atlanta and Lake Oconee or weekend getaways at their AirBnB in Savannah.
