Chamber Chat with Maggie Segrich & Meredith Wheeler, Co-Founders of Sesh Coworking

The Chamber is committed to telling the stories of our members. Chamber Chat is a regular series profiling our members. We love sharing great stories and insight from our members!

In this Chamber Chat, learn more from Maggie Segrich, Co-Founder and CFO and Meredith Wheeler, Co-Founder and CCO, of Sesh Coworking. With the growing coworking ecosystem in Houston, find out what differentiates Sesh Coworking apart from the competition.

In this blog post, Maggie and Meredith “bust the myths” about coworking and why it’s a good option for many business owners.

What is your 30-second “elevator speech” about what SESH Coworking does?

Sesh Coworking is a female-focused coworking space that fosters personal and professional growth, community, support and productivity.  We aim to provide our members with the tools needed to be the most effective, efficient, energetic and empowered version of themselves.

Why did you start SESH Coworking?

To address the specific working and lifestyle habits unique to today’s modern woman, Sesh Coworking is an aesthetically pleasing and functional workspace that offers a compelling calendar of weekly programming and a community built around collaboration and support.

What do you think sets SESH Coworking apart from the competition?

Sesh Coworking is not just a female-focused workspace that provides professional women a place to thrive. Our Sesh community has grown over the last three years and that community has helped shape our space and develop the amenities we provide.

Our goal is to provide our members with opportunities to tend to their whole selves. Whether that’s with our kid friendly hours, wellness programs, social events, or supporting programs with local universities, artists, designers, and makers. Sesh is a reflection of the diversity that is Houston.

Coworking seems like a constantly growing industry. What’s next for SESH Coworking in the next 3-5 years?

More Sesh for everyone! We would love to open more locations throughout Houston in 3-5 years.

What are some of the “myths” about coworking? Kind of like…if people only knew…?

You’d be surprised how many people don’t actually know what coworking means. It’s working in a shared environment alongside other companies.

Coworking is cheaper than paying for your own space when you include things like rent, utilities, insurance, and furnishings.

Female-focused does not mean women only. We are a community and space open to all. We want everyone to feel comfortable, efficient, and energized when they come to Sesh.

What is the best thing about running a business in HTX?

The resounding show of support, enthusiastic energy, and willingness to collaborate that Houstonians and other business owners have.

We are proud to call SESH Coworking one of our Chamber members. Why is it important that the company is part of the Greater Houston LGBT Chamber?

It is important to Sesh to be a member and supporter of the Greater Houston LGBT Chamber because they embody our mission of acceptance, inclusion, and community. Sesh believes that we are better and stronger together.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking about joining the Chamber?

Just do it! There are many Chambers in Houston, but this one, it’s got something special. The members, board members, and Tammi are incredible. They are supportive, responsive, and there to lend a helping hand. Sesh joined because we felt like we had found our people.

Speaking of advice, what’s the best advice you ever received as a business owner?

Know what you don’t know. Delegate the tasks that are not your strengths and can be done better and faster by professionals who do those tasks every day.

What's your favorite thing to do in HTX when you're not working?

Explore Houston – walk the trails at Memorial Park, run along the bayou, explore the MFA, attend festivals and pop ups, go to concerts, and of course try new restaurants.

Barbeque or Mexican, and where do you go for it?

Since we have a huge smoker in our backyard I should answer bbq. However, Meredith and I keep chips and salsa in stock for management meetings. Tony’s on Ella is my neighborhood haunt, their frozen margs are sneaky good! But I’m also a sucker for sunny, warm afternoons at 8 Row Flint with a margarita in hand.

Anything else you want to mention about your company?

We hope you come visit us at Sesh Coworking, we’re working hard to create a space that makes people feel like they never want to leave.
