The building is now a protected landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Between Hobby Airport’s airline traffic, business aviation and frequent fixed wing and rotary wing general aviation traffic, a visit to the museum will provide each guest with a front row view of the active runways!

The 1940 Air Terminal Museum celebrates its 82nd birthday in September. Join us for Wings & Wheels and to pay homage amazing piece of Houston's history.

The special exhibit, Fashion Takes Flight: The Evolution of the Flight Attendant Uniform, will be on display with a presentation by location historian, Michael Bludworth.

Fashion Takes Flight explores the evolution of flight attendant and stewardess uniforms from their beginnings with the first female flight attendant, Ellen Church, in 1930 to today. The exhibition offers a look at the various uniform styles worn throughout the decades and tells the story of not only the changing designs, but also the transformation of women in the workforce. Through archival photographs, advertisements, and documents and the uniforms worn during the era, the exhibition tells the parallel story of women who worked as flight attendants and American society’s view of women’s place in the professional world. From nursing uniforms to classic suits to hot pants, the perception of airline travel evolved along with the changing fashion of flight attendant uniforms.

This event makes for the best plane spotting location, including unobstructed views of the aircraft in motion. Great photo ops!

Shirts, hats, books & collectibles will be on sale. 10% discount for Chamber members!
