Educational Series: "How to Use Your Personal Story to Grow Your Business"
Thursday, September 5, 2019 (11:00 AM - 1:30 PM) (CDT)
Description
Join the Chamber for our first workshop as part of the Inaugural Educational Series, sponsored by Amegy Bank! Thank you to Amegy Bank for sponsoring our Inaugural Educational Series.
Our first workshop will focus on “How to Use Your Personal Story to Grow Your Business.” Everyone loves a good story! But how about an Impactful Story? A story which moves the listener to take action…primarily to buy the product or service you’re offering. Story-telling is a unique way to connect with your customers as long as it is sincere, compelling, and truthful. Big companies do a great job telling stories – think Nike, Apple, and Weight Watchers, just to name a few. We all like stories, they’re easy to remember, engaging, and provide a connection.
In this crowded market place you and your business need to stand out. By telling personal and impactful stories you will be able to create a deep connection with your prospects which will lead to higher sales. In this session you will learn how to identify and create your own Dramatic Impact Story and walk away with your story written and ready to tell. Lunch will be provided.
Our workshop speaker is Chamber member, Tom Jackobs, with The Impact Pilot. To say Tom has been through a few things in his 30+ years of being an entrepreneur is an understatement. He’s definitely had more failures than successes but wouldn’t have it any other way. He sold His fitness business which he owned for 9 years a year ago to become the Impact Pilot, helping entrepreneurs generate more income through better sales strategy and using stories to sell.
Tom helps clients craft their impact stories so they can grow their business. Storytelling is as much an art as a science. He combines both along with drama to create a remarkable story that clients can share with the world.
Tom has a BFA Degree in Theatre from DePaul University in Chicago and holds his private pilot license for single engine airplanes, which was a lifelong dream he achieved in 2013. He’s been a contributor to CBS Radio in Houston, a guest on Great Day Houston television show, Univision Television, Fox 26 News, KPRC Channel 2 and The CW Houston. He is also a presenter at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Houston.
