ABOUT NAM
ABOUT NAM
The National AIDS Memorial is the steward of The AIDS Memorial Quilt, started over 30 years ago as a way to bring attention to the AIDS crisis and honor loved ones lost to the disease. The Quilt now includes over 50K panels and honors more than 105K men, women, transgender and non-binary people who died from AIDS. NAM works to ensure that the lives of people who died from AIDS are not forgotten and the story of AIDS is known by future generations, so that never again will a community be harmed because of fear, silence, discrimination, or stigma.
ABOUT CHANGE THE PATTERN
NAM is reimagining the fight to end HIV in the South as they bring the AIDS Memorial Quilt and powerful events and programming to twelve Southern states most impacted today. In the fight to end AIDS in the Southern U.S., the National AIDS Memorial has partnered with the Southern AIDS Coalition to bring sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt honoring Black, Brown, and LGBTQ+ lives lost to HIV and AIDS to communities throughout the region to raise awareness about the HIV crisis that persists today within communities of color and marginalized populations.
