About Black Phlox

Our Story & Philosophy

Born of an immediate resiliency plan, Black Phlox was created by a nurse & veteran who was searching for a socially distanced way to lift spirits in an everchanging world of chaos.  Lovingly known as RKP, Rica Kendrick-Palmer, is known for her compassion & warm smile.  Sadly, the pandemic attempted to steal the entire world's resolve, including hers.  During a quest for how to keep people together AND apart, Black Phlox aims to make hearts smile by allowing participants to create their own- next version of themselves in a personalized and intimate candle making experience.  Learn more about Black Phlox at blackphlox.com.

 Celebrate National Coming Out Day (NCOD)

National Coming Out Day is an annual LGBTQ+ awareness day observed on October 11.  NCOD is a day that supports anyone coming out of the closet and it was first celebrated in the United States in 1988.  NCOD founders' belief was that homophobia and transphobia thrives in an atmosphere of silence and ignorance and that once people know that they have loved ones who are LGBTQ+, they are far less likely to maintain homophobic, transphobic or oppressive views.
