Join the Chamber for the Community Conversations Luncheon, one the newest events for 2022! 

The Community Conversations Luncheon connects key stakeholders, influencers and leaders in the region with Chamber members. Topics range from community initiatives to economic development to more of what's happening in Houston and beyond. This event gives members and guests the opportunity to hear the latest insight from key leaders throughout the region. 

Special Guest Nancy Meyer, Publisher/President of the Houston Chronicle, will join us for a fireside chat to talk about her path to journalism, the critical role of journalism and the importance of inclusion to tell the stories of communities across the region. As a part of the LGBTQ+ community, she will bring a unique view in her new role as Publisher and President of one of the premier newspapers in the country. 

Also joining us will be Melissa Aguilar, Senior Editor, Features, with the Houston Chronicle.  She will interview Nancy to talk about her path to journalism.  Melissa's unique lens on both journalism and the Houston Chronicle will provide an insightful conversation.

Publisher/President, Houston Chronicle 

Nancy A. Meyer was named President of the Houston Chronicle in December 2021. Prior, she spent five years in South Florida, most recently as the President of the Miami Herald and previously General Manager of the Sun Sentinel Media Group, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and the Orlando Sentinel, Orlando, Fla. Under Meyer’s leadership, The Sun Sentinel was awarded the prestigious 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for its impactful coverage of the mass shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. Prior to returning to Florida, she spearheaded a significant operational and digital transformation at the New Jersey Media Group, part of the USA Today Network that included The Record, NorthJersey.com, the Herald News, (201) Magazine and a portfolio of more than 30 community publications. As Senior Editor for Features, Melissa Aguilar oversees the Zest, Renew, Preview and Flavor teams, as well as HC Magazine and Houston Gives, the Chronicle’s annual philanthropy issue. In her 30-plus years at the Chronicle, she has held many positions, from Sunday editor and entertainment editor to fashion writer, copy editor and city hall reporter.

During her tenure, the features sections have won writing and design awards, as well as the prestigious Best Features Section award from the Society of Features Journalists.
