The Woodlands Pride to host first Talking With Pride summit ahead of five-year anniversary

On Saturday, it will celebrate that growth with its first-ever Talking with Pride Summit event at Sam Houston State University's Woodlands Center.

The Woodlands resident Jason Rocha didn't expect something as tragic as the 2016 Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting to bring anything good to the world.

Years later, he sees the tragedy as the moment he decided to officially come out as gay, which led to him founding The Woodlands Pride in 2018.

Now reaching its five year anniversary, the all-volunteer organization sees around 7,500 attendees at its Pride Festival in Town Green Park each October. On Saturday, it will celebrate that growth with its first-ever Talking with Pride Summit  event at Sam Houston State University's Woodlands Center.

Rocha said interviews of clubgoers calling Pulse their safe space inspired him to accept himself for who he is.
