Chamber Condemns League City Discriminatory Resolution
HOUSTON, TX (December 6, 2022) – The Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce condemns the actions of League City Council in considering an anti-LGBTQ+ resolution that calls for new rules pertaining to what books are allowed in the city’s library.
This resolution is inflammatory and proposes to implement a process that actively encourages discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community. The resolution is an attempt to drive false narratives about the LGBTQ+ community and limit access to books about the LGBTQ+ community including families and youth.
League City Council Members should reject this resolution for what it is…hate wrapped up in a resolution to attack the LGBTQ+ community. The city of League City and their public libraries should not be a place for hate but of learning about the entirety and diversity of the community.
