Chamber Enters Strategic Alliance with HCC

Organizations will work together to strengthen small business in region

The Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce has entered into a strategic alliance with the Houston Community College System with the aim of fostering local small business development.

The organizations signed a two-year agreement that calls for information sharing, cross-promotion of activities and training opportunities and more. According to the agreement, the Chamber and HCC are “joined by a common mission: helping start, maintain and expand small businesses.”

This new agreement comes as the Greater Houston LGBT Chamber celebrates its third anniversary. The organization now serves nearly 150 member companies.

"In 2016, we held the Chamber launch event at the Houston Community College (HCC)-West Loop campus so we could not be more proud to announce this strategic partnership. HCC is dedicated to helping businesses grow and thrive," said Tammi Wallace, Chamber Co-Founder & Board Chair. "The Chamber continues to focus on developing strategic partnerships to support our members. This strategic partnership with HCC offers tremendous resources for our members such as educational initiatives and the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business program. We appreciate HCC's strong commitment to the LGBTQ business community"

With multiple campuses across the region, Houston Community College System now serves more than 75,000 students annually.

“On behalf of HCC, we are thrilled to sign an MOU with the LGBT Chamber of Commerce to support and promote the collaborative work of both organizations," said Dr. Maya Durnovo, Chief Entrepreneurial Officer for Houston Community College. "Our goal is to build the capacity of businesses to foster success and economic growth!”
