What is the Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce?

The Chamber is the leading voice for the LGBTQ+ and Allied Business Community in the Greater Houston region.

Mission: The Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce accelerates economic opportunity for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer + business community through a strong network of business allies, innovative programs, strategic partnerships and advance policies that foster economic inclusion and equality.

The Chamber launched in 2016 to ensure representation for the LGBTQ+ Business Community.  The organization was founded by Co-Founders Tammi Wallace and Gary Wood.  The  Chamber is supported by members and Corporate Partners that invest in the mission of the organization.

Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce Recognized as Rising Star Affiliate Chamber of the Year by the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce

This recognition from NGLCC is a tremendous honor and significant milestone. It acknowledges the tireless efforts of the Chamber within our region and Texas on behalf of our members and the LGBTQ+ community.


HOUSTON, TX (August 18, 2023) – The Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce was recognized today by the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) with the Rising Star Affiliate Chamber of the Year.  The prestigious award was presented at the NGLCC’s annual International Business & Leadership Conference today in Denver, Colorado.  Accepting the honor and sharing remarks on behalf of the Chamber was Tammi Wallace, Chamber Co-Founder, President & CEO.


The Rising Star Affiliate Chamber Award is given to a newer Affiliate Chamber, or a Chamber experiencing new growth and vitality. The Rising Star Chamber has exhibited vitality and relevance in its community, brought a unified voice to the LGBTQ+ business community it serves, and proven its commitment to being part of the broader national movement.  This chamber recognizes the importance of solid planning and goal setting, has a plan for maintaining its pattern of growth and stability, and serves as an inspiration to its fellow chambers. The Rising Star Chamber will have actively participated in NGLCC grant and program opportunities and believes in the spirit of partnership and actively works to strengthen relationships with NGLCC and its fellow affiliates.

But rest assured, our work is far from over; we're just embarking on an incredible path of growth and impact focused on LGBTQ+ economic inclusion.”


“The Chamber has been ‘boots on the ground’ since 2016 working and supporting LGBTQ+ business owners, as well as our allies, and the entire community,” said Shenice Brown, Board Chair, Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce.  “Over the past eight years, the organization has made such an incredible impact for the LGBTQ+ community.  I am excited about the important work and impact that the Chamber will make in the years ahead for our community.”


In addition to this milestone, the Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated another milestone of hitting 400 members for the first time in the organization’s history.


The Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce joins a distinguished list of NGLCC Affiliate Chambers recognized over the years with the Rising Star Affiliate Chamber of the Year Award.
