Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce Statement on Orlando Pulse Nightclub Shooting
HOUSTON, TX (June 13, 2016) – The Greater Houston LGBT Chamber is deeply shocked and saddened about the violent and horrendous attack at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando. This massacre during Pride month is the worst mass shooting in U.S. History. The Chamber is grief stricken for the victims and mourn with their families. This senseless tragedy, with over 100 lives impacted and 49 lives lost, is because fear and hatred.
“A terror attack against my brothers and sisters is an attack against all of us,” said Gary Wood, Co-Founder and Co-Chair. “Fear will not stop our fight to protect the LGBT Community and our path forward towards equality, inclusion and unity.”
The Chamber brings a unified voice for the LGBT & Allied business community and we use this voice to share our sorrow and outrage at this terrible loss. The LGBT business community in the Greater Houston Region stands behind the City of Orlando, our colleagues at The Pride Chamber and the entire LGBT community across the nation.
“We will not succumb to fear and we will use our unified voices to lift up the families impacted by this tragedy,” said Tammi Wallace, Co-Founder and Co-Chair. “We will work together and fight the battle against those that try to drive us apart by using fear and hate. We are far stronger united together. Houston Stands With Orlando.”
