Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce Announces 2025 Pride In Business Celebration & Awards Luncheon
"A Decade of Equality: Celebrate, Reflect, Stand Together"
For Immediate Release
Houston, TX (February 14, 2025) – The Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the 2025 Pride In Business Celebration & Awards Luncheon, scheduled for Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Hilton Americas-Houston. This year's event marks a significant milestone as we commemorate the 10-year anniversary of marriage equality Supreme Court ruling—a moment that transformed the lives of millions and strengthened the foundation for LGBTQ+ economic empowerment.
The 2025 Pride in Business Awards will feature Jim Obergefell, the named plaintiff in the landmark Supreme Court case Obergefell v. Hodges, as the keynote speaker. His courageous fight for marriage equality resulted in the historic 2015 ruling that granted same-sex couples the legal right to marry across the nation. Obergefell will share his personal journey, reflect on the progress made over the last decade, and discuss the ongoing work needed to protect equality for future generations.
"As we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of marriage equality, we recognize that this victory was not just about love—it was about economic empowerment, dignity, and equal opportunity,” said Tammi Wallace (she/her), Co-Founder, President & CEO, Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce. “Now, more than ever, we must stand together to protect and advance the progress we’ve made."
The 2025 theme, "A Decade of Equality: Celebrate, Reflect, Stand Together," is a call to honor the progress made while recognizing the challenges that remain. As we reflect on a decade of legal marriage equality, we must also acknowledge the continued need for advocacy, economic empowerment, and solidarity.
This event will:
- Celebrate the hard-fought victories of the past decade.
- Recognize the resilience of the LGBTQ+ business community.
- Reaffirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable future.
- Showcase the impact of LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs and professionals on Houston’s economy.
"Celebrating a decade of marriage equality reminds us how far we’ve come and the work still ahead," said Stephen Miranda (he/him), Board Chair, Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce. “With this event, we will come together and celebrate this significant milestone as well as showcase the strength and resilience of LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs and professionals who are driving economic growth and fostering inclusion in Houston and beyond.”
As part of the event, the Chamber will present the Pride In Business Awards, which honor individuals, businesses, and organizations making a significant impact on the LGBTQ+ community and beyond. Nominations are now open.
Companies and organizations are invited to sponsor the Pride In Business Celebration. Individual ticket sales will be open closer to the event.
