Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce Receives Unity in Community Award from Human Rights Campaign
What began as a bold and unapologetic vision has grown into a thriving network of LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, professionals, and allies who are not only claiming a seat at the table—but using that seat to open doors, lift others, and create lasting change.
HOUSTON, TX (June 2, 2025) — The Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce is honored to announce it has received the Unity in Community Award from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Houston Steering Committee. The award was presented at HRC Houston’s annual dinner event on May 31, 2025 at the Westin Galleria.
“To be recognized by another LGBTQ+ organization makes this honor especially meaningful,” said Chamber Co-Founder and President & CEO Tammi Wallace. “We are deeply grateful to the HRC Houston Steering Committee for this incredible recognition.”
Since its founding in 2016, the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce has remained committed to a singular mission: creating space for the LGBTQ+ community in places where we’ve historically been excluded—especially in business.
What began as a bold and unapologetic vision has grown into a thriving network of LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, professionals, and allies who are not only claiming a seat at the table—but using that seat to open doors, lift others, and create lasting change.
"We are proud to be an organization that has created space for so many in our community to come together and raise their voice in this moment and in this movement," said Stephen Miranda, Board Chair of the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce. “To be recognized by the Human Rights Campaign for this work—the nation’s stalwart champion for our advancement and equality—is truly an honor.”

“In a world that too often tries to silence or erase the LGBTQ+ community, this recognition is about more than one organization—it’s a testament to the power of unity and what we can achieve when we stand together,” Wallace said.
At the Chamber, economic empowerment is a form of advocacy. Through efforts to build generational wealth, ensure LGBTQ+ representation in policymaking spaces, and create platforms where authenticity and identity are celebrated, the Chamber works every day to build a future where the LGBTQ+ community can thrive.
“We may be a Chamber of Commerce, but we’re also a community,” Wallace said. “A space where people can show up as their full selves—and where connection, collaboration, and growth are fueled by authenticity.”
Thank you again to HRC Houston, for this incredible honor. We’re proud to stand with you in this movement—and more committed than ever to our shared fight for equality, equity, and inclusion.
