HOUSTON, TX (March 16, 2022) – The Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce, as part of its collaboration with the Texas LGBTQ Chambers of Commerce, is officially launching the LGBTQ+ Workplace Alliance Program on March 23rd. The program creates connection, learning and community for LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Groups across Chamber Corporate Partners through networking and programming across the city, region and state of Texas.
The program was developed exclusively for Chamber Corporate Partners - to facilitate engagement and learning between LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group (ERG) leads and others who are a part of their companies' diversity, equity & inclusion initiatives. “This groundbreaking program is designed to support companies and LGBTQ+ employees in the workplace through connection, learning opportunities and best practices sharing,” said Tammi Wallace, Chamber Co-Founder, President & CEO. “The Chamber, working with our sister chambers across the state, is uniquely positioned to be a convenor of our Corporate Partners and lead regional and statewide work in terms of LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace. Our goal is not only to be a strong resource for our Corporate Partners on their LGBTQ+ inclusion paths but also support LGBTQ+ employees in the workplace.”
The program will officially launch at the virtual LGBTQ+ Workplace Alliance Summit on March 23rd. The Summit will connect companies across Texas for learning opportunities around topics focused on employee resource groups, executive sponsor leadership, belonging in the workplace and transitioning in the workplace.
Moderators and panelists include representatives from leading companies such as Amegy Bank, Comcast, EY, Google, Hess and Vistra to name a few examples. The keynote speaker will be Rhodes Perry, nationally recognized as a diversity, equity, and inclusion thought leader and LGBTQ+ inclusion expert. Media outlets like The Wall Street Journal, The Associated Press, and Forbes have featured his powerful work.
