Ryan Wilson to Join LGBTQ+ Chamber as Director of Corporate Relations
Stepping into an integral role at the Chamber, Wilson will oversee all corporate partnerships.
HOUSTON, Texas. Tuesday, November 28, 2023 – The Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce, an organization that fosters economic opportunities for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer + and allied business community, formally announced today that Ryan Wilson has been named Director of Corporate Relations.
Stepping into an integral role at the Chamber, Wilson will oversee all corporate partnerships, building and maintaining relationships with corporate entities to enhance partnerships and identify new business opportunities. He will serve as an advocate of the Chamber in the community with, not only Corporate Partners, but also local member businesses and the LGBTQ+ community.
Wilson began his LGBTQ+ advocacy as Co-President of Clemson University’s Gay-Straight Alliance and as Safe Zone Coordinator for the University of South Carolina. He served as president of the board of both the South Carolina Pride Movement and the Harriet Hancock LGBT Center. Ryan went on to become Executive Director of South Carolina Equality, fighting for marriage equality nationally as well as non-discrimination protections and hate crime laws at the state level. He later joined the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), working in the field for almost a decade advocating for LGBTQ+ people at the local, state, and Federal level. During his time as associate regional campaign director at HRC, Ryan focused on Southern states, including a stint as a member of the team fighting for HERO – the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance.
“I have spent the last nine years working across the Southern US and now I’m excited to focus my attention on the region we call home. Helping Houston’s LGBTQ+ community grow our economic impact locally by supporting the Chamber’s Corporate Partners is a fabulous new challenge to take on,’ Wilson said.
“We are excited to have Ryan join the Chamber Team and utilize his extensive national level and advocacy experience to support our partners and help the Chamber grow,” said Tammi Wallace, Co-Founder, President & CEO, Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce. “This new role will ensure a focus on our partners whose support helps the Chamber fulfil its mission.”
Wilson will start in his new role at the Chamber on December 1, 2023.
