It is with deep sadness that the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce mourns the passing of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a dedicated public servant and a tireless advocate for equality and justice.


Chamber Leadership visited with Congresswoman Jackson Lee at the U.S. Capitol during our 2024 legislative visits to D.C. She welcomed our leadership team with open arms.


Congresswoman Jackson Lee's unwavering commitment to civil rights, social justice, and equality has left an indelible mark on our community. Throughout her distinguished career, she championed numerous causes that have improved the lives of countless individuals, including those in the LGBTQ+ community. Her steadfast support for anti-discrimination laws, LGBTQ+ rights, and her advocacy for marginalized communities have set a powerful example for leaders across the nation.

Her legacy of compassion, determination, and relentless pursuit of justice will continue to inspire us all. The Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce extends its deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and constituents during this difficult time. We honor her memory and pledge to continue her work towards a more inclusive and equitable society.
