Statement - Verdict in the Murder of George Floyd
Though this verdict will not bring back George Floyd or remove the pain of his loss for the family and friends, there a measure of accountability but true justice will take time.
While justice has been served in the murder of George Floyd, his family will never see their son, father or brother again. Our thoughts are with the Floyd family during this time.
Though this verdict will not bring back George Floyd or remove the pain of his loss for the family and friends, there a measure of accountability but true justice will take time. Systemic racism is pervasive in our country and in order to address it requires true justice. True justice, in its highest form, means that system racism is eradicated in our country. Part of that eradication is addressing economic inequities that exist, and impact communities of color, particularly for the African American community.
Through the powerful lens of intersectionality and intentionality and by raising our collective voices, the Chamber will continue to work towards economic inclusion for LGBTQ & Allied BIPOC business owners and advocate for communities of color, who are denied economic opportunity.
