Join us for our 3rd Thursday Breakfast, one of the Chamber’s most popular monthly gatherings—bringing together 130–150+ LGBTQ+ and Allied business owners, professionals, nonprofits, and community from across Greater Houston.

🎤 Fireside Chat: LGBTQ+ Representation in Civic Leadership

This month’s program will feature a special fireside chat conversation highlighting the important role of LGBTQ+ representation in local government leadership and civic engagement.

We’re honored to welcome:

Kylie McNaught (she/her)
Vice Chair, Harris County LGBTQIA+ Commission

Clay Melder (he/him)
Chair, Mayor’s Advisory Board on LGBTQ+ Affairs

Kylie McNaught serves as Vice Chair of the Harris County LGBTQIA+ Commission, bringing over a decade of experience in Texas politics, advocacy, and public service.

Professionally, Kylie serves as Statewide Coordinated Campaign Director for the Texas Democratic Party. Prior to joining TDP, she was Director of Public Affairs at Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast. Her career spans campaign management, grassroots organizing, and volunteer mobilization.

Kylie holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Houston and is a doctoral candidate in Public Health at UT Health Houston. She also serves on the board of the UH LGBTQ+ Alumni Network.

Outside of work, she enjoys rock climbing and spending time with her two cats.

Clay serves as Vice President of Not‑for‑Profit Banking at Amegy, where he works closely with large-scale Houston NFPs as an advisor, and he’s established strong, mission‑centered relationships across the sector. He serves as Chair of Houston’s LGBTQ Mayoral Advisory Board, Vice Chair of the Board for United Against Human Trafficking, Board Member and “Big” with Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Houston, and member of United Way Greater Houston’s Young Leader Council. From 2020–2023, Clay chaired Amegy’s LGBTQ+ Business Resource Group, strengthening the bank’s partnership with the Greater Houston LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce.

An Eagle Scout and committed community advocate, Clay was recognized as a 2025 Houston Business Journal “40 Under 40” honoree and 2023 HBJ “Outstanding Diversity Champion.” In his personal life, he and his partner of 11+ years, Alberto, foster Italian Greyhounds through IGRF Houston and enjoy exploring Houston’s diverse communities with their two pup-daughters, Addie and Demi.

Current priorities and initiatives advancing LGBTQ+ inclusion across our region
